Yesterday I visited the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art. Gorgeous collection - here are two of my favorites:

Damien Hirst's "Mother and Child (Divided)"
The museum description says that Hirst is trying to complicate Christian iconography and to make a statement about the use of animals in science. BUT, as we can see, it is jarring to see the insides of the cows contrasted with their soft fur and the baby's tongue sticking out. Personally, I just find it sad and upsetting! It reminded me of the recent film Okja - https://youtu.be/AjCebKn4iic and made me glad that I am a vegetarian. :-( |
